El Centro College Update
11 a.m., July 16

As events move forward and Summer II begins, a number of questions dealing with locations, processes and temporary procedures have surfaced that focus on El Centro College. This update offers answers to some of the most frequently asked questions posed by students, faculty and community members about Summer II classes, DART passes, new student orientation, student services and registration.

Main Campus Closing

The Downtown Campus and Wellness Center will remained closed until further notice while the investigation continues on the Dallas shootings that occurred July 7. Once the FBI releases the building back to the college, El Centro officials will be able to assess damage and decide on a date when students can return to the campus.

The West Campus, Bill J. Priest Institute and Paramount, One Main and R buildings will remain open during regular working hours.

El Centro Website

The college's full website is not accessible. Once the college has access to the main building, staff members will work diligently to restore the website so that it will function normally once again. The temporary web page will be updated regularly with all college news until that time.

Information About Classes Starting on Monday, July 18, 2016

  • Students enrolled in classes that originally were scheduled on the Downtown Campus in the A, B and C buildings should contact their instructors directly to find out more about new classroom relocations effective Monday, July 18.
  • Students enrolled in classes originally scheduled in the Paramount and R buildings, as well as the West Campus or at One Main, should report to their regular classrooms, which are printed on their original schedule/fee receipt.
