Calling all zombies, super heroes, ghosts and ghouls to take their mark at the starting line for the sixth annual Spooky Trot 5k at Brookhaven College Oct. 27 at 8 a.m. Runners and walkers will take their marks to benefit the college's student food pantry. Costumes are optional.
The entry fee is 10 nonperishable food items or a $10 donation to support the food pantry. Donated funds are used to purchase needed items like meat products, diapers and toiletries that are not often donated.
Registered racers receive a race T-shirt and medal. Prizes will be awarded to both men and women for the top three running times and for costume contest winners in categories such as scariest, funniest, cutest and most outrageous. Participants should register online at
