Brookhaven College's Phi Theta Kappa chapter, Alpha Delta Pi, was recognized with multiple honors at the Texas regional convention held March 9-11 in Corpus Christi.

Brookhaven College was named a Five Star Chapter and received the Honors in Action and College Project Participation Award.

Chapter officers, Estrella Rodriguez Perez, Ashley Eisenkramer and Metzli Navarro, and advisor, Rebekah Benavides, received the Texas Region District II Hall of Honor Award for exceptional leadership and service and in recognition of their outstanding work and dedication to the chapter. Benavides also received the Texas Region District II Horizon Award in recognition of hard work and dedication to the Brookhaven Chapter.

"It really is an honor to see how well the students can come together as a team and work to achieve chapter goals," Benavides said.  "They keep each other motivated."

The momentum continued at the international convention in Nashville, Tenn., April 6-8 where Brookhaven was recognized as a REACH Chapter for membership development and designated as a Five Star Chapter for progress in the attainment of goals set by the chapter.

Brookhaven Chapter officers Perez, Eisenkramer, Navarro and Grace Olonade received a Distinguished Chapter Officer Team award for extraordinary teamwork and leadership abilities. Perez was also recognized as part of the All Texas Academic Team.

"Seeing our officers and members experience the energy of the convention and come together to celebrate our chapter's accomplishments was inspiring," Benavides said. "I wish everyone could experience the energy and work it takes to make PTK what it is. We want students to know that it is something that they can be a part of and it isn't an exclusive organization."

In 2016, Brookhaven was named a Texas Top Chapter and received the Award of Merit for Honors in Action at the regional level. Internationally, Alpha Delta Pi was named a Top 100 Chapter and commended for participation in the Hallmark Awards Program.

Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society has 1,285 chapters in the United State and throughout the world. In addition to recognizing academic achievements of college students, PTK provides opportunities for individual growth through leadership, service and fellowship according to the organization's website.
