Arbor Day 2017

DALLAS—Brookhaven College has been designated Tree Campus USA® for the fifth consecutive year by the Arbor Day Foundation which honors colleges and universities for effective forest management and engaging staff and students in conservation goals.

"Brookhaven College is proud to receive the Tree Campus USA® designation. Since 2013 we have planted 262 trees on campus and contributed 500 volunteer hours to tree projects on campus and in the community," said Carrie Schweitzer, director of sustainability at Brookhaven College.

Brookhaven College places a priority on sustainability to ensure the health and future our students and community through conservation, pollution prevention, recycling and environmental awareness.

The Arbor Day Foundation program requires that schools meet five core standards of campus forest management to earn the annual Tree Campus USA® recognition which include having a tree advisory committee, tree campus plan, dedicated annual expenditures for the campus tree program, Arbor Day observance and a student service-learning project.
