DALLAS—Brookhaven College Communications Division continues a tradition of bringing Dallas' finest journalists, photographers and photojournalists to present Texas-sized tales at the 4th annual True Stories event April 6 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in Room K234.

From concept to pitch to publication, attendees will experience the process and motivation of these talented individuals in an open and interactive setting. Audience questions about navigating the current political environment as a journalist, the role of social media in reporting and how to pitch an idea to an editor are encouraged. Join the discussion and learn more about journalism, photojournalism and broadcast media as well as career opportunities in the industry.

Speakers for the April 6 event include:

  • Rachel Williams - freelance writer at the Dallas Observer
  • Danny Gallagher - freelance writer at the Village Voice and a contributor at the Dallas Observer
  • Eva Raggio - writer at the Dallas Observer
  • Brantley Hargrove - freelance journalist and author of "The Man Who Caught the Storm"
  • Pete Freedman - founder, editor and president of online-only publication Central Track
  • Obed Manuel - associate editor at Central Track
  • Michael Granberry - arts and feature writer at The Dallas Morning News
