DALLAS — Dallas College is pleased to welcome Dr. Kenneth P. Gonzalez, who joins the college today as the new president of its Mountain View Campus. Prior to assuming this role, he served as vice president for student and enrollment services at El Paso Community College. His higher education experience, including positions as a faculty member, dean and national pathways coach, has centered on student equity and access.

“Dr. Gonzalez brings a reputation as an inclusive, forward-thinking leader who works to advance the communities he serves,” said Dallas College Chancellor Joe May. “His advocacy for first-generation, low-income students and students of color will be a tremendous asset to our institution. And I believe the Mountain View community will connect with his authenticity, energy and vision.”

Dr. Gonzalez earned a bachelor’s in psychology and master’s in social work at Brigham Young University. He holds a doctorate in educational leadership and policy studies from Arizona State University. A national expert on institutional effectiveness in higher education, Dr. Gonzalez trains others on collecting and using data to improve strategic planning, student success and faculty development.

“As has become all too clear, the future of higher education is in desperate need of increased innovation and collaboration,” said Dr. May. “I believe Dr. Gonzalez is the leader we need to help engage with the community and our industry partners to move our Mountain View Campus forward in this most critical time.”

“I want to thank Chancellor May, Dallas College and the community served by the Mountain View Campus,” said Dr. Gonzalez. “To me, there is no more important work than to transform lives through a college education. As a first-generation college student, I know firsthand what a degree can do for not only an individual but also a family and community. There is a great deal of work to do, and I’m excited to begin working with such a great team of professionals and leaders.”

Dr. Gonzalez replaces Dr. Beatriz Joseph as president of the Mountain View Campus. Dr. Joseph is now vice chancellor of student success at Dallas College.

Dr. May thanked Dr. Joseph for her incomparable leadership of the Mountain View Campus over the past two years. “Our students and the Dallas County community have greatly benefited from her passion for serving others,” said Dr. May. “We’re thankful she will remain within the Dallas College family. I know she looks forward to focusing her full attention on leading our Student Success functional area.”
