Navigate Student Mobile App Quick Guide: My Major

  1. Notice My Major under the Explore menu list. My Major provides a brief description of the academic requirements and career pathway associated with this Program of Study. Also available is an option to explore other Dallas College Programs of Study that are like this Major, an option to view the Major Explorer Assessment results, an option to retake the Major Explorer Assessment and an option to schedule an academic advising appointment.

    2. Mobile app home page. Under the section Explore, select menu item, My Major.

  2. Under the section titled Current Major, select Developmental courses to view an explanation about any Developmental courses that might be required if a student does not meet the Texas Success Initiative Requirements. Under the section titled Consider these, you may click the option View your placement test results to your Texas Success Initiative placement scores (if applicable), and any other placement test results completed for Dallas College. Notice this example does not display any placement test results.​

    3. My Major Page, in section Current Major, an arrow highlight points to the hyperlink Development courses. Under section Consider these, an arrow highlight points to the menu item View your placement test results.
    Developmental Courses page, providing brief description that this program requires mastery of basic math, reading and writing concepts (also known as the Texas Success Initiative Reading, Writing and Math).

  3. Under the section titled Consider these, select View your major explorer results to view an academic and career summary about this Program of Study. Notice the academic summary includes the number of credits hours required for completing this Program of Study, and the courses that must be completed in a specific order are provided in order sequence. Notice the career summary includes the average salary, hiring demand and brief explanation of career requirements for this Program of Study.

  4. Under the section Consider these choose View your major explorer results to view your current Program of Study and to view other Dallas College Programs of Study that your Major Explorer Assessment identified as possible matches for your consideration. Notice you may mark your favorite Program of Study by selecting the heart icon in the Program of Study description. Also notice you may sort matches by Best Match or by Interests.

  5. Under the section Consider these, students may choose to Take the major explorer again. Students will then receive access to the Major Explorer Assessment that was originally completed when the student logged into Navigate for the first time.

  6. Under the section Consider these, students may choose to Schedule an academic advising appointment. Students are directed to schedule an appointment for advising support. The academic advisor is the primary support to assist students understand how to navigate college. This includes understanding policies, procedures, student responsibilities, student rights, and all the supports and resources available for student support.
    7. My Major Page, under section Consider these, an arrow highlight points to the menu item Any questions? (schedule an appointment with advisor).
