An Associate of Science Field of Study in Biology degree with courses in this pathway prepares you to transfer to Texas Woman’s University (TWU) to earn a bachelor’s degree that opens the door to a career in research, conservation, education, biotechnology, wildlife, forensics, the environment, pharmaceuticals, and many more areas. Although there may be several options to fulfill certain requirements for the associate’s degree, please note that this pathway lists the specific courses leading to this bachelor’s degree. All plans can be modified to fit the needs of part-time students. This is not an official degree plan. Refer to catalog for official degree requirements. You must receive a GPA of at least 2.00 on all college-level course work. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. Contact your advisor for information. This Field of Study degree in Biology does not complete the Core.

  • ENGL 1301 – Composition I This is a (CB 010) Core course. Must earn a grade of “C” or higher.
  • BIOL 1406 – Biology for Science Majors I This is a (CB 030) Core course and a Field of Study course.
  • CHEM 1411 – General Chemistry I Prerequisite of MATH 1314, or equivalent academic preparation, prior to enrolling in the course. This is a Field of Study course.
  • ​CHOOSE ONE :
    • ARTS 1301 – Art Appreciation This is a (CB 050) Core course OR​
    • DRAM 1310 – Theater Appreciation This is a (CB 050) Core course OR
    • MUSI 1306 – Music Appreciation This is a (CB 050) Core course.

SEMESTER 2 (Total Hours: 14)

  • ENGL 1302 – Composition II This is a (CB 010) Core course.
  • HIST 1301 – United States History I This is a (CB 060) Core course.
  • BIOL 1407 – Biology for Science Majors II This is a (CB 030) Core course and a Field of Study course.
  • CHEM 1412 – General Chemistry II This is a Field of Study course.
