Dear Dallas College Community,
We are excited to announce the Common Experience Program. This
long-standing initiative within the Office of Special Academic
Programs provides an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff
across all campuses to engage in shared learning, critical
thinking and meaningful discussions that enriches Dallas College
academic community.
“Our Hidden Conversations: What Americans Really Think About Race
and Identity” by Michele Norris
The Common Experience Program encourages thoughtful exploration of
ideas through the selection of a common book. For this cycle, the
Dallas College community has selected Our Hidden Conversations.
This selection was made through a community-wide vote and offers
thought-provoking perspectives on and fosters the application of
academic thought to the ways we communicate, listen, and connect
with one another.
Throughout the academic year, faculty members have the
option to incorporate the Common Book into their instructional
content, as appropriate, to provide students the opportunity to
explore a common subject through multiple disciplines.
Additionally, there will be a variety of engagement opportunities
designed to encourage reflection, discussion, and deeper learning.
We invite all members of the Dallas College community to
participate in this journey of exploration and discovery. More
details on opportunities to engage with the Common Experience
Program will be available soon.
Thank you for being a valued member of the Dallas College
community. If you have any questions or would like more
information, please contact commonbook@dallascollege.edu
Sincerely,
Toniette Haynes Robinson, Ph.D

Programs
