Learn by Doing, Train for the Industry

In the Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) program, students will train with industry-standard tools and aircraft components from day one. The curriculum includes field trips to local aviation companies that align with what you’re learning in class, allowing you to see real-world applications as you go. Students can also volunteer for job shadowing to gain even more exposure to the field.

Path to FAA Certification

Students progress through the program in phases—General, Airframe and Powerplant—with the opportunity to take the corresponding FAA exams after each section. A built-in break week allows time for written testing and focused preparation. Dedicated practice time is also included to support readiness for the oral and practical exams, ensuring students are fully prepared for certification.

Launch Your Career in Just 13 Months

The full-time day program allows students to complete all required training in just 13 months. Classes are held in person Monday through Thursday, with some online instruction on Fridays to support flexibility and reinforce learning.

Additional scheduling options, such as evening and weekend cohorts, will be available in the future. These formats will offer greater flexibility but will require more time to complete than the accelerated day program.

Your Experience Matters. Let’s Build on It.

Applicants with prior aviation maintenance education or experience, whether through military service or another institution, may be eligible to enter the program beyond the initial General section.

Instructor approval is required, and all students must first submit the AMT application (see the Get Started section for details).

Military Experience: Applicants must provide a copy of their FAA Form 8610-2 as part of the review process.

Prior Training from Another Institution: To be considered for placement in Airframe or Powerplant, students must have successfully completed and passed the FAA written exam for General, Airframe or Powerplant (as applicable).

Admission to the AMT program requires a separate application in addition to applying to Dallas College. Space is limited, and students are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

The next submission window to join the waitlist is:

June 1–12, 2026

We’re working hard to grow the program and add more cohorts in the future, so stay connected and take the first step today.
