This is an example course sequence for students interested in pursuing the Logistics and Supply Chain Management – Logistics Distribution Technician Certificate. It does not represent a contract, nor does it guarantee course availability. Following this pathway will help you earn the Logistics and Supply Chain Management – Logistics Distribution Technician Certificate. Courses from this certificate may apply to the related A.A.S. degree. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. The Logistics and Supply Chain Management Program is an industry certification program designed to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to enter the growing fields of logistics, advanced manufacturing, transportation, and warehousing. Students will demonstrate skills in overall logistics processes and procedures used in operations, warehousing, production, inventory control, distribution, transportation, and more from material point of origin (POO) to point of sale (POS) to the hands of the consumer. Upon successful certificate completion, students will be prepared to earn the nationally recognized Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC) logistic certification: Certified Logistic Associate (CLA). Courses that complete the Logistics Distribution Technician Certificate and the Logistics Distribution Technician Occupational Skills Award (OSA) are noted below.

Students pursuing this certificate are waived from the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards, but must meet course prerequisites, as long as the student completes the TSI waiver form prior to enrollment.

SEMESTER 1 ACTION ITEMS

  1. Meet with your success coach to confirm your academic/career goals before the end of the semester.
  2. Meet with your success coach to research your career options and opportunities for job shadowing.
  3. Meet with your success coach to request an official program of study audit and confirm or update your academic/career path and program of study.
  4. Meet with your success coach for assistance in preparing for job search.
  5. Meet with a faculty advisor or success coach regarding placement for the Internship course in semester 2, if needed.

LMGT 1323 – Domestic and International Transportation Management (Course also applies to OSA)

LMGT 1325 – Warehouse and Distribution Center Management This is the capstone course for this award. (Course also applies to OSA)

CHOOSE ONE: 

  • LMGT 2388 – Internship: Logistics and Materials Management* OR
  • LMGT 2334– Principles of Traffic Management
*LMGT 2388 Internship: Logistics and Materials Management serves as the capstone for the program. The course involves eighteen (18) hours per week of workplace experience for sixteen weeks.  This provides a total of 288 workplace experience hours over a sixteen-week semester.
