DAISY Awards

Dallas College has partnered with The DAISY Foundation to recognize extraordinary Nursing students and faculty members. We encourage you to nominate deserving students and faculty for a DAISY Award.

What is The DAISY Foundation?

DAISY stands for Diseases Attacking the Immune System, and the program was established in 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died from an autoimmune disease. Patrick’s family was deeply touched by the care and compassion shown by the nurses during his illness, and this foundation is a way to say thank you to nurses. Learn more about The DAISY Foundation by visiting DAISYFoundation.org.

What is the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Faculty?

The program is designed to provide national recognition for faculty members who inspire and influence their students toward rewarding careers in the nursing field. The DAISY Foundation hopes this program contributes to a positive work environment and continues to encourage faculty members about the importance they play in teaching future nurses. We encourage all alumni and current students of the program to nominate a faculty member who made a positive impact during your educational journey.

What is the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing Students?

Using the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses as a model, this recognition is designed to highlight outstanding and compassionate care provided to patients and families by prelicensure Nursing students. We encourage patients, patient families, faculty and other providers who work with our students to nominate a student who is worthy of recognition.
