Dallas College is teaming up with our community partners!

 

Together, we are providing awesome summer camp options conveniently located at four of our centers. Get ready for skill-building, cool activities and tons of fun for all ages (even for adults). Many of the summer camp offerings are provided at no cost.

Spark your child’s curiosity at “Little Pegasus,” a half-day camp at Dallas College! Kids ages 7-14 will explore college through hands-on workshops, friendly competition and more. It is an exciting glimpse into higher education that will ignite their potential.

Q. What is the definition of “youth summer camps”?

A. Any day activity/camp with minors and unaccompanied by a parent or guardian.

Q. What is the definition of “minor”?

A. Any person under 18 years of age who has not been married and who has not had the disabilities of minority removed for general purposes.

Q. What are the background check requirements for staff?

A. All Dallas College staff are required to complete a criminal background check and mandatory training in sexual abuse and child molestation awareness.

Q. What are the requirements for managing medication?

A. Youth summer camp coordinators will establish procedures related to managing the collection and dispensing of medications. No minor is to self-administer.

Q. What emergency procedures are required?

A. Youth summer camp coordinators will develop procedures for medical emergencies, severe weather and fire/building evacuations at a minimum. These plans will include procedures to ensure that all minors and staff are accounted for in case of an emergency.

Q. What are the reporting requirements for suspected abuse or neglect?

A. Anyone with knowledge of suspected child abuse or neglect must immediately report it to the appropriate authorities directly (versus reporting it to their supervisor). Such reports must be made to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, Dallas College Police or local law enforcement. The requirement is applicable to anyone 18 years old, including Dallas College employees and students.

Q. How can I register my child for a youth camp online?

A. To register your child, use the camp contact information: email, phone or camp link/URL (depends on the camp partner).

Q. What information is required to enroll my child in a youth camp?

A. Please provide your child’s information, including their name, date of birth, gender, home address, etc. (complete all requested information).

Q. Are waivers required for Youth Summer Camp participation?

A. Yes. In addition to registering, the parent/guardian must also complete the Minor Student Consent Form and the Release and Waiver of Liability and Indemnity Agreement Form. The Photographic Consent and Release Form is optional.
