Faculty Senate

The Faculty Senate is created by the Dallas College Board of Trustees pursuant to  Texas Education Code § 51.3522 and Dallas College Board Policy and Dallas College Board policy, BBE (LOCAL), which affirm that only the governing board of a public institution of higher education, the Dallas College Board of Trustees, may establish a faculty council or senate, and that such a body must represent the general faculty and advise the administration on matters related to the general welfare of the institution.

The Faculty Senate serves as the recognized advisory body for full-time faculty and advises the Chancellor, Provost, or designee on general welfare of the institution, including:

  • Curriculum
  • Pedagogy
  • Teaching methods
  • Course modalities
  • Instructional program development

The Faculty Senate serves in an advisory capacity only and does not possess final decision-making authority. All recommendations become effective only upon approval by the Provost, Chancellor, or Board of Trustees, as applicable.

Current employees can access the Faculty Senate SharePoint site (login required) for more information.
