Dallas College Proud: Four Teams Compete at Nationals

Four Dallas College athletic teams traveled out of state to compete in national championships last weekend and brought home stellar results.
Dallas College Eastfield and Brookhaven volleyball teams traveled to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, finishing first and second, respectively, in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Championship on Saturday.
It marked Eastfield’s third straight national championship, beating Brookhaven 25-17, 25-14,
25-16. Under Head Coach Phil Nickel the Harvester Bees have gone 100-2 over the past three years and now hold four national titles overall. Read more about Eastfield’s championship.
Brookhaven is celebrating its ninth championship match, and fifth national runner-up finish under Head Coach Jason Hopkins. Read more about Brookhaven volleyball’s finish here.
Meanwhile, Brookhaven Women’s Soccer and Richland Men’s Soccer both travelled to Herkimer, New York, for NJCAA Division III championship tournaments, and both finished as national runners-up.
Brookhaven Women’s Soccer fell to Delta College 1-0 in overtime on Sunday,
finishing as runner-up to Delta for the second year in a row. It was Brookhaven’s seventh trip to the national championships. Read more about their final game here.
Richland Men's Soccer team fell to Mohawk Valley Community College in a 3-2 shootout in their Sunday championship game, after battling to a 1-1 draw through double overtime. It was Richland's sixth national runner-up finish and 10th straight national championship appearance. Read more about the game here.
