Magic isn’t just entertainment for longtime English professor Dr. Geoffrey Grimes.“It is the mechanism for which I create a relationship with someone,” Grimes said. That’s why Grimes is so passionate about spreading the impact magic can have to students and the community.

The Research Institute at Dallas College recently conducted a comprehensive survey to capture the critical voices of Dallas College alumni.

Dallas College Richland's theater program was recognized with three Kennedy Center awards: Citizen Artist Award, Distinguished Achievement in the Facilitation of a Brave Rehearsal Space and Dallas College student Ava Stipe was recognized for distinguished achievement in stage management. The honors related to the program's production of "Self-Injurious Behavior."

"Little Egypt" will be recognized in a city ceremony designating the site as critical to Dallas' history.

Over 100 students will be honored at a May 9 reception, marking a new chapter for Dallas College.

Pricila Cano Padron, a member of Dallas College's inaugural bachelor's degree in education cohort, overcame initial doubts about the new program and credits it with helping her secure a full-time fourth grade teaching position in Richardson ISD. Inspired by the support she received from teachers during her mother's battle with leukemia, she hopes to provide the same encouragement and guidance for her future students.

Six ceremonies will honor the accomplishments of more than 9,000 students.

In an age where most students prefer to be on their computers, John T. Racek was more than happy to help Richland Collegiate High School student Seff Islam Al-Ghafry on his senior capstone project. Islam Al-Ghafry and Racek created an area on the Richland Campus to grow wildflowers that would attract monarch butterflies as they migrate north from Mexico.

In support of Mental Health Awareness Month, the community is invited to a May 5 Mental Health and Wellness Symposium in downtown Dallas.
