What test would I need if I wish to take ESL non-credit classes?
Students needing placement in a non-credit ESL course take the Future exam. This is a 45-minute, paper/pencil assessment designed to test the student's knowledge of English literacy. For this assessment, students must meet with their
success coach (advisor) to be referred for the exam.

Students needing placement in a credit ESOL course take the ESL Accuplacer exam. This is an online assessment that is divided into three sections: ESL Reading Skills, ESL Sentence Meaning and ESL Language Use. The test is multiple choice with an essay included in the ESL Language Use section. For this assessment, students must meet with their
success coach (advisor) to be referred for the exam.
