Frequently Asked Questions About Lifelong Learning

What is the Senior Tuition Waiver?

The Senior Tuition Waiver is for students age 65 and over wanting to take credit classes for free. The tuition waiver covers up to six credit hours per semester and will be applied at the time of class registration.

Do I qualify for the Senior Tuition Waiver?

To qualify, you must be 65 or older at the time of registration, have lived in Texas for 12 months, and must currently live in Dallas County with proof of residency. Waivers are intended for non-degree-seeking students.

How do I request the Senior Tuition Waiver?

Complete and submit the Tuition Waiver Request (PDF - 79KB) directly to DCRegistrar@DallasCollege.edu. You can submit the waiver yourself or get help from a Lifelong Learning team member.

To use a tuition waiver for credit-based classes, you must follow these steps:

  • Annual Requirement: A signed tuition waiver request form must be submitted once each academic year to the Dallas College Registrar’s Office.
  • Per-Semester Request: If you want to use the tuition waiver for other semesters within that same academic year (e.g., Fall 2025, Spring 2026 or Summer 2026), you must email the Registrar’s Office requesting the waiver for each specific semester.
  • Timing: Requests must be submitted after you have registered for classes.

How do I apply for credit classes?

If you would like to take credit-based classes, you should apply for admission to Dallas College.

Do I need to submit transcripts if I previously attended another college?

If you have attended any college or university in the past, you will also need to complete a Transcript Waiver Agreement (PDF - 364KB) and submit it to the Admissions Office: Admissions@DallasCollege.edu. You will also need a copy of a photo ID, and you can stop by one of our campus Admissions Offices for assistance.
