Marcia L. Boyd

“I wanted to work in a medical field but didn’t want to become a nurse. My education at Dallas College helped begin my journey into the radiology world and has allowed me to further my career and grow as a technologist.

“The instructors are top-notch. It says something when an employer asks where you went to school, and when Dallas College is the answer, there are no further questions!! The instructors make you feel so comfortable and always have your best interest at heart. They are encouraging, fantastic and an absolute joy to have as leaders.

“The most important thing I learned is not to give up; there is always someone fighting for you to do your best. I would absolutely recommend this program to other students.”  Marcia Boyd earned an associate degree in Radiologic Sciences. She works as a CT technologist in Grapevine for Preferred Imaging, an outpatient-based imaging center with locations across the metroplex, offering MRI, CT, X-ray and C-Arm Arthrogram and Myelogram procedures.

Medical Laboratory Technician Methodist Medical Center of Dallas
“My first experience at community college was taking ESL classes at Richland and Brookhaven, which were close to where I lived. Then when I started exploring what kind of program I wanted to take for a career change, I saw Medical Laboratory Technology and transferred to El Centro ... I always tell people who are thinking about community college to think about Medical Laboratory Technology, and I tell them about my personal experience with the program. It’s a stable job, in a quiet environment with a lot less stress than many other medically related fields, and the people are very friendly and professional. I really love my job.”
