Mustafa Alobaidi

Mustafa Alobaidi’s passport showcases how in demand and universal Dallas College’s Interactive Simulation and Game Technology program can be for students. Alobaidi has worked in Seattle, the United Kingdom and Sweden since his days at Dallas College.

“I didn’t know what I wanted to do. I started off wanting to go into computer science, but I got bored pretty quickly. I ended up finding the Interactive Simulation and Game Technology program.

“Now that I look at it, it was the best decision I ever made. The teachers realized I had a lot of passion for it, and they taught me to understand how things work. Some of my best memories as far as being at Dallas College were figuring out how things work and why they work.

“I’m the type of person who is ‘show me,’ not ‘tell me.’ So, my message to current and future students is that school will show you half of the work and you need to put in the other half. Your demo reel or your portfolio gets you through the door, but it’s your job to earn it after that. “And, as a VFX artist, we’re in demand. We’re in demand in such a way that it’s insane.”

“Some people in non-STEM majors reject the idea of being in a STEM organization because they feel they aren’t smart enough or talented enough. I’m not the smartest or most talented person in the room, but I’m curious, and that’s more than enough. Don't let your own sense of limitation stop you.”
