Student Experience: Ronnie Sunker

“I owned a motorcycle and it was just something I wanted to know about. After I went through Cedar Valley’s Engine Technology program, I knew I wanted to go into the field. One of the most useful things I got out of the program was learning about all of the internal functions of motors and transmissions — learning how everything works together.

“I recommend their program all the time. In fact, I just sent two employees to Cedar Valley. It’s a very detailed program, with one-on-one instruction, and it provides a far better education than most places. I liked the personalized instruction myself. I left the program five years ago, but when I go back, they still know who I am.”

Ronnie Sunker earned a certificate in Motorcycle Technology at Cedar Valley in 2004. His work responsibilities include managing 16 technicians and service advisors, customer service, handling warranty issues and solving repair problems. American Eagle Harley-Davidson is located in Corinth, between Lewisville and Denton.

“You should never stop learning in today’s world. If you do, you get left behind like the dinosaurs. Once you have knowledge, though, no one can take it away from you. The most important thing I learned is how to have the tools you need in today’s workforce.”
