Ascender and Transfer Programs

The Dallas College Ascender and Transfer Programs Sponsor-Partner Program is a new opportunity created for Dallas College that works to manage the connection between postsecondary partners and our Transfer services programming to assist students in becoming transfer-ready during their educational journey. This program consists of two supporting areas in the college:

Career and Transfer Skills (CTS Development)

The Career and Transfer Skills (CTS) Development program is student focus and is committed to educating and engaging students and alumni by facilitating their career and transfer development skills and empowering students to actively plan a future as contributing members of a global community.

Ascender

The Ascender program is a first-year experience program designed to support first-time-in-college students at Dallas College who are interested in transferring to earn a bachelor’s degree. The program prepares students for transfer to the baccalaureate in a cohort model through peer learning communities, mentoring, culturally responsive teaching, and culturally relevant student engagement.

Working together, these two service areas offer:

  • Ascender Student Programming - includes events such as Professional Development Workshops, Mentor Meet & Greets, and Noche de Familia.
  • Transfer Readiness Workshops - focuses on the development of student's skills and abilities to prepare them for transfer.
  • Transfer Fairs (In-Person and Virtual) - fairs for universities to connect directly with our students/alumni.
  • University Visits - opportunities for students to visit one of our university partner’s campuses.
  • Networking Event and Transfer Panels - allow Dallas College alumni (or alumni from a university where students are interested in transferring to) to address students in an interactive exchange.

Why We Need Your Support

As Dallas College is steadily restructuring to better serve our students, our goal is to be able to provide for students holistically, which includes providing them a framework of opportunities to have experience outside of the traditional education programming. Support from you will assist students that will provide engaging transfer skills development and programs as well as resources to use on their transfer journey.
