The Child Development program offers students an in-depth study of young children from birth to twelve years of age. The Eastfield Campus provides a child development center, the Children's Lab School of the Center for Child and Family Studies, that offers lab opportunities for students. The Brookhaven Campus has a Head Start Center on campus that is available for students, as well as numerous off-campus locations for student lab experiences. Students must take CDEC 2165 and CDEC 2388 at Dallas College where they plan to graduate under this award. Courses that complete the degree also complete the Early Childhood Teacher Development Occupational Skills Award (OSA) and the Early Childhood Education and Teaching Certificate (C).
