New TSI Rules for Dual Credit
High school students enrolled in dual credit courses with less than 15
credit hours completed are considered non-degree seeking and are not
required to demonstrate college readiness through the Texas Success
Initiative (TSI) Assessments. The Texas Higher Educational Coordinating
Board requires a program of study (POS) declared at 15 credit hours. Once
the student completes 15 credit hours, they are required to adhere to TSI
regulations.
-
Non-degree seeking dual credit students
(with less than 15 credit hours) are eligible to enroll
in TSI required courses (ex. ENGL 1301, MATH 1314), without meeting the
college readiness requirements.
-
Dual credit students who have earned 15 credits or more, are required to
meet college readiness requirements before registering for TSI required
courses. This applied to all courses including retakes.

Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Program webpage
