Position Summary

Dallas College seeks an innovative, visionary, and entrepreneurial leader to serve as the Vice Provost, School of Education, providing strategic leadership for one of the most important educator preparation programs in Texas. Reporting directly to the Provost, the Vice Provost will lead academic excellence, program growth, student success initiatives, faculty development, community partnerships, and workforce alignment for the School of Education while helping advance Dallas College's mission 
to transform lives and communities through higher education. 

This is a unique opportunity to lead the largest and fastest-growing producer of teachers in North Texas. Established in 2021, Dallas College's School of Education became the first community college in Texas to offer a Bachelor's Degree in Education, creating an affordable, high-quality pathway into one of the region's most impactful professions. Today, the program serves more than 1,000 students and continues to expand its influence across North Texas, where districts collectively hire more than 3,000 new teachers annually. 

The School's innovative model allows students to complete a four-year bachelor's degree for approximately $12,000 in tuition while remaining connected to their communities and support networks. Graduates enter a profession where starting teacher salaries across North Texas are approaching $70,000, with performance-based compensation models creating opportunities for exceptional educators in high-need schools to earn total compensation approaching $120,000. 

Serving within Texas' second-largest community college system—and in a state ranked No. 1 for job growth—the Vice Provost will have the extraordinary opportunity to strengthen and scale a teacher preparation pipeline that directly contributes to educational attainment, economic mobility, and workforce development across a region that educates nearly 10% of Texas students and approximately 1% of the nation's children. 

The successful candidate will be a collaborative and forward-thinking academic leader who can inspire faculty, cultivate strategic  partnerships with K-12 school districts, advance innovative instructional models, and position Dallas College as a national leader in affordable teacher preparation.

Key Responsibilities

The Vice Provost provides executive-level leadership for the School of Education and is responsible for academic quality, strategic growth, faculty excellence, student outcomes, and external partnerships. Key responsibilities include: 

Academic Leadership & Excellence

• Lead strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of academic programs within the School of Education.
• Ensure academic excellence through curriculum innovation, student learning assessment, accreditation readiness, and continuous improvement.
• Develop and maintain high-quality student pathways and degree maps that promote completion, transfer, employment, and economic mobility.
• Align academic offerings with workforce needs and emerging trends in educator preparation. 

Faculty & Talent Leadership

• Provide leadership and oversight for faculty managers, academic leaders, and instructional teams. 
• Foster a culture of academic excellence, innovation, accountability, and student-centered teaching.
• Support faculty recruitment, engagement, development, evaluation, and succession planning.
• Advance instructional excellence through professional development and evidence-based teaching practices. 

Student Success 

• Champion initiatives that improve retention, completion, licensure attainment, transfer outcomes, and employment success.
• Collaborate with academic and student support teams to ensure students have access to tailored resources, tutoring, mentoring, advising, and academic support.
• Promote successful outcomes for all learners while expanding access to bachelor-level pathways. 

Community & Workforce Engagement

• Build and strengthen relationships with K-12 districts, regional employers, government agencies, and community stakeholders. 
• Create innovative partnership models that expand clinical experiences, teacher residencies, internships, and employment pathways.
• Identify opportunities for grants, philanthropy, revenue generation, and strategic investment.
• Serve as a visible ambassador for Dallas College throughout the community and profession. 

Institutional Collaboration

• Work collaboratively with academic schools, workforce education, student services, enrollment, and institutional effectiveness teams.
• Promote alignment of instructional offerings across campuses and learning modalities.
• Support college-wide strategic priorities and contribute to institutional decision-making as a member of the academic leadership team. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading educator preparation programs, colleges of education, teacher residency programs, or related academic units.
• Knowledge of Texas educator certification requirements, teacher workforce trends, and K-12 partnerships.
• Experience scaling new academic initiatives and bachelor's degree programs.
• Success securing grants, external funding, and strategic partnerships.
• Demonstrated ability to leverage data to improve student success and program performance.
• Experience working within complex, multi-campus institutions.
• A strong commitment to educational access, workforce development, and community impact.
