Football season has come to Dallas College. The sound of footballs flying and cleats on the ground will be at our campuses in Spring 2027 with six new women’s flag football teams ready to compete. Brookhaven, Cedar Valley, Eastfield, Mountain View, Richland and North Lake campuses are preparing to field teams to compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association.
Among the program's inaugural recruits is Garland native A'jaLynn Bostic, a four-time Texas high school state champion in powerlifting who has set multiple state records. Bostic, who previously played football in eighth and ninth grade as a defensive lineman, joined the Richland Thunderducks this fall, bringing elite strength, athleticism and a championship pedigree to the new program.
“I didn’t know where I wanted to go to college after high school, or if I should stay in the Dallas area,” Bostic said. “I met with coach Dynastee Cain and learned about the program she was creating, I decided that I wanted to be here.”
She is excited to start practicing with the team and meeting with her teammates. As for her goals for the season, she has mentioned creating a family environment and a winning culture at Dallas College.
“I look forward to the team becoming a family, getting out of my comfort zone, and maybe even winning some trophies for Richland.”
Executive Director of Athletics Lynn Nabi hopes many students will look into the flag football program by either joining a team or supporting in the stands.
“Dallas College Athletics is proud to be part of the growing women’s flag movement across the nation,” said Nabi. “We cannot wait to start the season and hopefully one day train the next Olympic flag football champion.”
Flag football will make its Olympic debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Games.
Students at Dallas College will have plenty of opportunities to learn more about the flag football program as the start of the spring 2027 season gets closer. Learn more and sign up to try out for a team on the flag football webpage.
