When Kathryn Brownlee, Ph.D., professor of music and commercial music, isn’t teaching students at Dallas College’s Cedar Valley Campus, she can be found conducting the New Texas Symphony Orchestra (NTSO), an all-volunteer community orchestra she founded that’s now in its 19th season.

The $100,000 grant to Dallas College Foundation awards seed money for a pilot program providing free child care for Dallas College students.

The college will hold a recruitment event, an awards luncheon and a signing ceremony aimed at recognizing apprenticeships as critical pathways to good-paying jobs.

A resource fair at Mountain View Campus Nov. 16 will highlight services available at Dallas College and elsewhere to assist veterans and their families.

The grant will cover 100% of the tuition for more than 1,500 employees in construction-related courses.

The seven main Dallas College campuses and three service centers will be open for both early voting and Election Day voting. An additional service center will be open on Election Day only.
