Financial Aid Checklist for Continuing Education and Workforce Training

Are you applying for financial aid for continuing education or workforce training classes

What's the difference between continuing education (CE) and classes for credit?

Use the financial aid checklist in eConnect to guide you through the steps to complete your financial aid file.

Once you log in to eConnect, see which checklist items you have completed in the process and which items you still need to mark complete.

Here are examples of checklist items and their descriptions:

Checklist Item No. 1: Apply for aid

This is marked complete when a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or institutional application (like a Texas Application for State Financial Aid or TASFA) has been completed.

(Whats the difference between the FAFSA and TASFA?)

Checklist Item No. 2: Complete required documents

This is marked complete when you have submitted required documents to the Financial Aid Office that are necessary for processing and evaluating funding.

You can see the details of what you need to submit in your eConnect account in this financial aid checklist item. You will be able to tell when you submitted these documents for processing.

Checklist Item No. 3: Enroll in continuing education classes

Once your financial aid file is complete, contact a CE success coach to enroll in continuing education (CE) classes. They will review CE and workforce training programs with you to determine what best fits your goals. Then they will help you enroll in your CE classes.

Checklist Item No. 4: Submit TPEG Application for Continuing Education

The Texas Public Education Grant (TPEG) may pay tuition and required fees for students enrolled in eligible continuing education (CE) courses.

Submit your TPEG application on the Financial Aid Forms webpage. Select the correct academic year, then scroll to the bottom to find the TPEG continuing education application.

Once all checklist items are complete and your TPEG application has been processed, eligible funds will be applied toward tuition only.

Please note: TPEG for Continuing Education is a tuition-only program and does not cover books, supplies, tools or other course-related expenses.

Note: Review your student eConnect file and check your email often to ensure you see possible updates.

Check My Messages in eConnect for Official Financial Aid Messages

To get official financial aid emails, CE and workforce training students should use eConnect; credit students should use Workday.

How To Check Your Messages in eConnect

  1. Check the My Messages screen (login required) in eConnect for copies of official email messages.
  2. To navigate to My Messages, sign in to eConnect, then select My Messages (located in the My Personal Information menu).
    • My Messages will ensure that you get a copy of official emails, but it’s still important for you to update your email address with Dallas College whenever it changes.
  3. Go to the Update My Email Address screen if you have changed your email address since you last registered with Dallas College.
