FAFSA vs. TASFA

At Dallas College, students may complete one of the following applications to apply for financial aid:

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA)

Which application is right for you?

FAFSA Form

Who can submit a FAFSA?

A student must be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen to apply for federal aid.

You may submit your aid application at Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This is the form students complete to apply for federal financial aid, including grants, loans and work-study.

TASFA Form

Who can submit a TASFA?

Students who are lawful residents of the United States and are classified as Texas residents, and who are not eligible to complete the FAFSA, may complete the Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA).

The TASFA should not be completed by a student who is eligible to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
