Special Cases When Applying for Aid
The data provided on the FAFSA is intended to determine the amount your family can reasonably be expected to pay toward your college costs.
There are times when FAFSA information does not accurately reflect a family's financial situation and ability to pay. For example, since the filing of the FAFSA, a parent or guardian may have retired, died, divorced, lost their job or experienced a reduction in untaxed income.
Sometimes it is possible to reassess a family's unique situation. If you believe your FAFSA application data does not represent your current situation, contact the Financial Aid Office to see if you are eligible to submit a request to have your financial situation reviewed (sometimes referred to as a special or “Unusual Circumstances” request). You can find all required financial aid forms on the Financial Aid Forms page.
