Handbags for Hope

Dallas College has partnered with the Texas Advocacy Project in its “Handbags for Hope” campaign this spring.

From March 18 through April 19, the college is accepting donations of purses, gender-neutral totes and diaper bags for survivors of intimate partner violence.

How to Donate

Students, faculty, staff and community members can drop off donations at Dallas College food pantries on any of the seven campuses or the Pleasant Grove Center. Donation boxes are in the hallways.

  • New items will be donated to Texas Advocacy Project (TAP), one of our Dallas College community partners. The nonprofit organization provides free legal and social services to survivors of all forms of power-based abuse, including intimate partner violence and sexual assault. Like our College Alliance Against Sexual Assault (CAASA), TAP’s mission is to end dating and domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking in Texas.
  • Used items will be donated to the Dallas College clothing closets to support students and community members in need.

Other Ways to Get Involved

Volunteer with CAASA. CAASA will be filling the donated bags with safety planning information at Eastfield Campus the week of April 24. For more details on how you can help, email CAASA@DallasCollege.edu.
