It is best not to use spaces, underscores, pound signs, exclamation marks, etc. in your file name.

Recommended File Naming Conventions

  • When naming or saving a file, please use the following naming conventions:
    • myassignment1, or
    • myAssignment1, or
    • MyAssignment1
  • Your file name should not have
    • periods,
    • spaces,
    • underscores, or
    • special characters (e.g., single quotes, double quotes, #, $, %, &, etc.)
  • When naming or saving a file, if you are not using Word, or if your intended recipient does not have Word, it is best to save the file as type .rtf (Rich Text Format).

General Technical Support FAQs for Students

First, check the correct time for your time zone at WorldTimeServer.com.

To change your computer's time and time zone in Microsoft Windows:

  1. Open the Date and Time Properties dialog box by double-clicking the clock on the taskbar.
  2. On the Date & Time tab, select the item you want to change.
    • To change the hour, double-click the hour, and then click the arrows to increase or decrease the value.
    • To change the minutes, double-click the minutes, and then click the arrows to increase or decrease the value.
    • To change the seconds, double-click the seconds, and then click the arrows to increase or decrease the value.
    • To change the AM/PM indicator, select it, and then click the arrows.
  3. To change your time zone, click the Time Zone tab. In the box above the map, click the drop-down arrow, and then click your current time zone.
    • For Texas:
      • Most of Texas is in the Central Time Zone - Select: (GMT-06:00) Central Time (US & Canada)
      • Far West Texas (including El Paso) is in the Mountain Time Zone - Select: (GMT-07:00) Mountain Time (US & Canada)
  4. If you want your computer's clock to be adjusted automatically when daylight saving time changes, make sure the Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes check box is selected. This setting is located on the Time Zone tab.
  5. To save your changes, Select OK.

Email is Dallas College's preferred method of official communication with students. Dallas College Student Email addresses are used to notify students of important information related to their education. The following are examples of some of the communications you can expect to receive:

The email address we have on file for you is considered part of directory information and may be requested by outside sources under the Public Information Act. If you'd like to prevent the release of this information, you may use My Privacy (requires login) on eConnect or contact your college's Admissions/Registrar's Office to request to have your directory information protected.

Microsoft Office 365 includes the most-popular Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher, Access and more. You can install Office 365 on up to five PCs or Macs and Office apps on other mobile devices including Android, iPad and Windows tablets. Office 365 includes 1 terabyte of document storage in the cloud on OneDrive. Office 365 includes Outlook email, which we are calling Dallas College Student Email.

Think of eCampus as a virtual campus — a web-based learning system and electronic community center for students and faculty. This customizable, secure portal offers courses, collaboration and communication tools, assessment features, and access to a vast array of teaching and learning resources.

Here are some examples of what you’ll find on eCampus:

  • announcements from your professors
  • chat rooms
  • course content
  • course syllabi
  • library resources
  • news media resources
  • online courses
  • personal calendar that synchs with your handheld electronic device

To log in to eCampus for the first time,

  1. Go to the log in page
  2. In the username box, type in e + your student ID number. For example: if your student ID number is 1234567, you would type in e1234567.
  3. In the password box, type in the same thing that you typed in the username box. (e1234567 in this example)
  4. Once you're logged in, you will be prompted to change your password. Change it to something memorable.

If you believe or suspect that your account has been compromised you should change your password using the Change Password option on the Credit Student Menu at econnect.dcccd.edu immediately.

Request support by filling out a "Create A Case" form (log in required).  First time users will be required to set up a new password to use with the site.

By Phone:

If you feel you need an immediate response, please call us at 972-669-6402, which is answered 24-hours a day, 7-days a week. If your problem cannot be resolved at this level, it will be escalated to technical support.

Technical support hours are:
Monday - Friday: 7:00 a.m. - midnight
Saturday - Sunday: 3:30 p.m. - midnight 

If your call is escalated during a time when technical support is not available, you will receive a response the following business day.
