“The best part of my Dallas College experience was being in the classroom with other students. During class, we had engaging dialog. The most important things I learned in my Dallas College education were to be an independent and critical thinker, what research tools to use when needed, methods for recalling complex content and how to prepare for the licensing exam.

“The Real Estate program at North Lake prepared me for real-life work through detailed case studies and relevant examples provided by practicing real estate professional Theda Redwine. The program prepared me to handle complex real estate transactions, beyond completing promulgated forms and agreements.

“The content was challenging and comprehensive. We completed research projects, watched educational videos and had relevant reading assignments and discussion questions. All of this was designed to engage critical thinking and conversations with the instructor and other students.

“This program taught practices that helped me streamline my home inspection company. But most of all, the knowledge I gained from this program gave me confidence to be a community influencer and leader.”

In addition to being a Realtor with JP & Associates Realtors, Carol Holmes operates a home inspection company. She is involved in all aspects of real estate marketing and serves as president of the Women’s Council, Dallas Association of Real Estate Brokers. As an adjunct faculty member of the Dallas College Real Estate program, Holmes teaches Contract Forms and Addenda and Law of Contracts. She was a 2018 and 2019 Real Estate mentor for Tech High School. For two years in a row, 2018 and 2019, she was honored by JP & Associates with their Exceeding Expectations Award. She received the 2019 Women’s Council of Realtors Network Leadership award and was inducted into The National Society of Leadership and Success Chapter through the University of Phoenix. In 2020, she was elected president of the Women’s Council of Dallas Association of Real Estate Brokers.

“With my travel schedule it’s really hard to be in a classroom, and even when I’m in town my work hours are erratic. The strong point of taking courses online is the flexibility and freedom. I can just log on and do my homework at home or on the road in a hotel.”
