How To Register in Workday for Credit Classes

You can register in person at a campus or by logging in to Workday and following these steps. If you prefer visual instructions, we also have a registration guide with screenshots.

Note: If you are registering for a continuing education or Workforce course, you will need to contact our CE team for assistance.

Step 1: Log In to Workday

Your first step is to log in to Workday, our student information system, where students register for classes, check financial aid, view tuition bills, set up payment plans, and verify or change a program of study.

Workday is our student information system. You will log in to Workday when you want to register for classes, check your financial aid, view your tuition bill, set up a payment plan, and verify or change your program of study. Workday is what you will use to do your day-to-day business with us.

Step 2: Register for Classes in Workday

  1. Search for Courses
    • From the Workday homepage, select the Menu icon (top left).
    • Choose Academics Hub from the Apps list.
    • Expand Planning and Registration, then select Find Course Sections.
  2. Find Your Courses
    • The Institution field should automatically display Dallas College.
    • Under Start Date Within, select Semester Academic Calendar, then choose an Academic Year and specific term.
    • For Academic Level, choose Undergraduate and select OK.
    • Enter the course name and number in the search field and select Search.
      • You can use the Current Search checkboxes to filter results.
      • Review the course list. Each section includes location, meeting times and format under Section Details.
  3. Start Registration
    • Select Start Registration for your chosen course section.
      • If you don’t see this button, refer to Troubleshoot Registration for a Course.
    • On the Register for Course Section page, review your selected section (marked with a blue checkmark) and compare it to other available options.
    • The chart also shows helpful information such as available seats.
    • Select Register to enroll.
  4. Confirm Your Registration
    • A large checkmark at the top of the screen confirms a successful registration.
    • Select View Registered Courses to see all enrolled classes.
    • Your newly registered course will appear under My Enrolled Courses.

Step 3: Pay for Your Classes

  • Check your Workday account to view your payment deadlines or set up a payment plan. Payment plans must be set up for each term.

Important: Tuition is due by 4 p.m. seven calendar days after you register for each class. If you registered for classes on different days, you may have multiple payment deadlines. Even if you’re expecting to receive Financial Aid, you may still need to set up an initial payment plan to avoid being dropped from your classes.

  • Learn more about how to pay online, start a payment plan or pay in person on our Make Payments page.

Re-Registering for a Course

If you dropped a course or were dropped due to non-payment, you can re-register for the same course if seats are still available. If the course is no longer available, look for another open section. If that is not an option and you need to choose a different course, be sure to verify the new course aligns with your program of study by checking with your success coach to confirm. To secure your course, you must pay in full or enroll in a payment plan to avoid being dropped again.

You can re-register through your Workday account. If you prefer visual instructions, we also have a registration guide with screenshots.

  1. Log in to Workday. Select the Profile icon in the top-right corner, then select View Profile.
  2. From the blue left-hand menu, select Academics.
  3. Select the Current Classes tab at the top, then choose My Dropped/Withdrawn Courses.
  4. Select a course under the Section column to see if it is open.
    • Tip: You can also use Course Listing to view other available sections of the same course.
    • If all sections are full, you may need to choose a different course.
  5. If the course Status is Open, seats are still available. Select Start Registration to begin the process.
  6. Select Register to complete your registration.
  7. Repeat these steps for each course you need to re-register for.

Troubleshooting Registration & Helpful TipsA person sitting in a library holds a pencil upright while resting their other hand near their chin, appearing to think.

  • If you miss the registration deadline, you will need to start classes in the next entry term. Late registration is not allowed.
  • Check your holds in Workday. You may have a hold on your account for several reasons including TSI testing, unpaid balances, a missing prerequisite course, or you are not in good academic standing. For instructions on how to view holds, log in to Sharepoint to view the tutorial.
  • Need additional troubleshooting help? Check out this list of reasons why you can’t register online, and we’ll help you troubleshoot.

How To Get in Touch With Us

  1. Make an Appointment With Your Success Coach

We strongly recommend that you meet with your assigned success coach to get information about degrees offered, program of study, prerequisites, and other important topics related to your college goals. To meet with your success coach, schedule an appointment in Navigate. Meetings can be in-person or virtual.

Appointments are best for detailed academic planning or more in-depth conversations like registering while on academic probation, returning from suspension or dismissal, or appeal form signatures and degree plan review.

  2. Student Services In-Person and Virtual Queues

You can get in line for student services without standing in line by using our In-Person and Virtual Queues. These are drop-in options (not appointments) for students to meet with various student services staff on campus. You may also join the virtual queue; however, wait times are generally longer than the drop-in, on-campus option.

These queues are best for general questions and quick requests like adding or dropping a class or TSI referrals.

  3. Call or Text the Dallas College Contact Center: For Simple Questions Answered Fast

The Dallas College Contact Center is your go-to resource for quick answers to basic questions without waiting in the virtual queue. The Contact Center answers questions like, “What’s the status of my application?” or “Has my financial aid been processed?”
