Dallas College has pivoted to taking an active role in ending the virus' spread, hosting a vaccination site and registration events as well as providing other services.

After a debilitating stroke, Kelley turned to sewing to help her cope. With support she received from Dallas College El Centro Campus, she is turning her hobby into a new career.

The state-of-the-art, 97,000-square-foot facility will be used to train apprentices and craft professionals in eight different trades, field engineers, supervisors and construction managers.

The $10 million grant project focuses on training programs in cybersecurity, information technology, advanced manufacturing, robotics and transportation.

After completing an Amazon apprenticeship, students can earn an associate degree through additional coursework.

Dr. Bradford Williams, who most recently served as president of Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City, begins his new role at Dallas College El Centro Campus on Feb. 1.

Financial assistance helps students like Baylee Ratcliff, a mother who lost work hours due to the pandemic, to continue their education.

The program offers scholarships and on-campus journalism training and education to universities and colleges across the country, creating pathways for diverse storytellers.

"With this decision, we will accelerate our plans to meet the serious educational needs of students, employers and our community,"� said Chancellor Joe May.
