Financial Aid Eligibility

Eligibility for Federal Student Financial Aid
To be eligible for federal financial aid, you must:
- Be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen
- Have financial need for certain types of aid (determined by information you provide on your FAFSA)
- Have a high school diploma or GED, or meet special ability-to-benefit requirements
- Be enrolled in an eligible program
Note: Applying for financial aid? You must select an eligible program of study before you receive your financial aid. To select a program, schedule a meeting with a success coach.
- Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements for federal aid
- Not owe money on a federal grant or have a past-due federal student loan
Eligibility for State Student Financial Aid
To be eligible for Texas state financial aid, you must:
- Be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen, or lawfully reside in the United States and be classified as a Texas resident by the college
- Have financial need (determined by information you provide on your TASFA)
- Have a high school diploma or GED, or meet special ability-to-benefit requirements
- Be registered with the Selective Service (if required)
- Be enrolled in an eligible program
