Financial Aid Eligibility

Eligibility for Federal Student Financial Aid

To be eligible for federal financial aid, you must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen
  • Have financial need for certain types of aid (determined by information you provide on your FAFSA
  • Have a high school diploma or GED, or meet special ability-to-benefit requirements
  • Be enrolled in an eligible program

Note: Applying for financial aid? You must select an eligible program of study before you receive your financial aid. To select a program, schedule a meeting with a success coach

Eligibility for State Student Financial Aid

To be eligible for Texas state financial aid, you must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen, or lawfully reside in the United States and be classified as a Texas resident by the college 
  • Have financial need (determined by information you provide on your TASFA) 
  • Have a high school diploma or GED, or meet special ability-to-benefit requirements
  • Be registered with the Selective Service (if required)
  • Be enrolled in an eligible program
