If you or someone you know would like to speak by phone or text with a trained urgent care professional, there are nationwide services available:

  • Text HOME to the Crisis Text Line at 741741 to communicate with a trained crisis counselor from anywhere in the United States at any time about any type of crisis.
  • Students of color can text STEVE to the Crisis Text Line at 741741 to speak with an urgent care counselor dedicated to supporting the mental health and emotional wellbeing of students of color.
  • Call the National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988.

If you are feeling anxiety or stress related to the coronavirus, there are resources and services to help you manage your concerns. Recommendations for managing stress related to the coronavirus can be found at the National Institute of Mental Health.

There are lots of online and community resources t​o help you support your mental health.

Counseling and Psychological Services recommends a few specific tools to get started.

Are you looking for resources and strategies for talking about mental health issues, whether they are yours or a friend’s?

End the stigma and join the movement with Okay to Say. The website includes specific coping strategies for COVID-19 and the chance to read other’s stories (or share your own).

If you're feeling anxious, stressed, unfocused or even just weird, find resources to help and ways to take action.

The Trevor Project offers counseling resources and aid specifically for LGBTQ+ youth. Dallas College also offers a student organization for LGBTQ+ students and additional resources.

 

Of course, there are hundreds of additional mobile apps and websites that can help with sleep, relaxation, meditation, mindfulness and other mental health-related subjects. Take some time to search for relaxation and meditation apps to find what tools work best for you.

In addition to our college counseling and psychological services, many community mental health resources are available to help you or other people you care about — for free or at a low cost.
