2023 TRS Retiree Benefit Enhancements webpage on the TRS website has been updated with the latest information. The page has frequently asked questions (FAQs) about the one-time stipends and COLAs, important upcoming dates, and helpful links to additional resources.
The webpage is the one-stop TRS source for information related to the topic. Retirees are encouraged to check back often for updates as well as follow TRS on social media.

Dallas Scottish Rite Cathedral
The spring tour will be of the Dallas Scottish Rite Cathedral. The temple is a monumental structure in the Farmers Market District of downtown Dallas at 500 S. Harwood. Opened in 1913 as an official headquarters for use by the Scottish Rite Masons and other Masonic lodges, it is a grand example of early 20th century Beaux Arts Classical architecture. Admission is free, as is parking. Lunch will be on your own at the Green Door Public House, which is next door to the cathedral. Don has a handout specific to this tour.

I would like to propose a trip to the Dallas Museum of Art to see an exhibition titled “Impressionist Revolution from Monet to Matisse.” This exhibit marks the 150-year anniversary of the first Impressionist exhibit of 1874. It explores the history and legacy of Impressionism within European modernism, delving into “the rebellious origins of these outcast artists,” discovering connections to the new directions taken by the great figures of the 19th and early 20th centuries. “The unique innovations of its core members, including Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, and Berthe Morisot, are showcased alongside the responses of successive generations of avant-garde artists, from Paul Gauguin and Vincent van Gogh to Piet Mondrian and Henri Matisse."
Our tour is scheduled for Wednesday, April 10 at 11:30. We can meet in the area of the information desk near the north entrance of the museum. The cost is $18 per person; parking in the lot below the museum is now $20 (both free to members, of course).
For lunch afterwards, the Mi Cocina in Klyde Warren Park across the street is a good possibility.

Two sets of Brooklyn parents meet to deal with a playground altercation between eleven-year-old boys and a calm and rational debate between grown-ups transforms into a hysterical night of name-calling, tantrums and tears. Winning the Tony Award for Best Play in 2009, this hilarious, emotionally charged production asks the question, "How many parents standing up for their children become infantile themselves?" A dark, physical comedy with a bite!

Enjoy a gourmet lunch of New England cuisine prepared and served by the students in the award-winning culinary program at El Centro Campus. We don’t know the menu yet as that is determined by the students after the semester starts, but we know from experience it will be delicious. And this is a good opportunity to be on campus and interact with students.
Cost: $17 per person. This includes a $2 tip that goes into a scholarship fund for students.

Please contact Lisa Theriot to RSVP for this event. Tour the Trinity River Audubon with a 45-minute tour and short hike to the river. After the tour, participants will explore the property and building.
Located ten miles south of downtown Dallas. As the largest urban hardwood forest in the United States, this forest supports a diverse community of plant and animal species and contains a unique mixture of bottomland hardwoods, wetlands and grasslands. A part of the City of Dallas-Trinity River Corridor Project, the center's 120 acres sit on a former illegal dump site, Out of Deepwood now a reclaimed haven for a vast array of birds and other wildlife in an increasingly urbanized metropolitan area. Five miles of trails lead visitors through hardwood forests, pond, wetland and prairie ecosystems, and along the Trinity River. The visit will take approximately 1.5 hours. Please bring a water bottle and wear comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes. You may also want to bring binoculars if you have them. We may have a picnic afterward on the grounds. The cost of the tour depends on the number of people who attend. The tours are $85 for fewer than 15 people so if 10 retirees participate, it will be $8.50 each.
